Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of ParcelRide, a controlled platform for arranging parcel delivery between senders, verified drivers, and receivers.

Version v1.0 · Effective 8 June 2026

Pending legal review. This is a structured pre-launch draft prepared for internal review. It is not legal advice and has not yet been approved by qualified legal counsel. It must be reviewed before public launch.

1. About ParcelRide

ParcelRide is a structured logistics platform that arranges the delivery of small and medium parcels by verified drivers along routes they are already travelling. During its first controlled launch the service operates within the Malmö (Sweden) ↔ Copenhagen (Denmark) corridor.

ParcelRide is not a classifieds board, an open marketplace, or a venue for users to negotiate deals between themselves. Pricing, order progression, and trust & safety steps are managed by the platform. ParcelRide coordinates deliveries; it does not buy, sell, or take ownership of the goods you send.

2. Definitions

  • Sender — a user who creates a delivery order and hands a parcel to a Driver.
  • Driver — an approved, verified user who collects, transports, and hands over a parcel.
  • Receiver — the person to whom a parcel is delivered, who may confirm receipt through a secure link without a full account.
  • Order — a single delivery arranged through the platform, with its own status history and event log.
  • Platform / we / us — ParcelRide and the systems through which the service is provided.

3. Accounts & eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use ParcelRide. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your account credentials secure, and to be responsible for activity under your account.

Driver accounts are gated: a Driver cannot accept or perform deliveries until they have completed onboarding and been approved. We may decline, suspend, or revoke approval where verification fails or our trust & safety requirements are not met.

4. Platform-calculated pricing & payment

The price of every delivery is calculated by the platform. The Sender provides delivery parameters (such as pickup and drop-off locations, parcel size, and weight); the platform computes the price; the Sender then confirms it. Senders do not set their own prices, and prices are not negotiated between users.

Pricing reflects factors such as distance, pickup and drop-off zones, parcel size and weight, any cross-border handling, the platform fee, and driver compensation. Prices are shown inclusive of applicable VAT (moms) before you confirm. Payment is processed by our payment provider; ParcelRide does not store full card details.

5. Order lifecycle

Each Order moves through an explicit sequence of statuses, and every transition is logged with a timestamp and the acting party. Orders do not skip states. The lifecycle is, in summary:

draft → priced → pending driver → driver assigned → en route to pickup → arrived at pickup → picked up → in transit → arrived at drop-off → delivered → completed.

An Order may instead be cancelled, disputed, or marked as a failed delivery where circumstances require. The platform’s recorded status and event history are the authoritative record of an Order.

6. Pickup & proof of pickup

The Sender must make the parcel available at the agreed location and within the agreed pickup window, correctly packaged for transport. At pickup the Driver may record proof (such as a photograph and timestamp) to document the condition and handover of the parcel.

7. Delivery, proof of delivery & receiver confirmation

The Receiver is given access to delivery status and estimated time of arrival through a secure, tokenized link, without being required to create a full account. At handover the Driver records proof of delivery, which may include a photograph, a timestamp, and/or a confirmation code. The Receiver may confirm receipt through their link.

To protect all parties, communication takes place through the platform rather than by exchanging raw personal contact details.

8. Cancellations & changes

Before a Driver is assigned, an Order can generally be changed or cancelled. Once a Driver has been assigned or pickup has begun, changes and cancellations may be limited and fees may apply, reflecting work already performed. Cancellation rules and any associated charges are shown in the relevant part of the flow.

9. Failed & undeliverable deliveries

A delivery may fail where, for example, the Receiver cannot be reached, access is refused, the address is incorrect, or handover cannot be safely completed. In such cases the platform records the outcome and the parcel is handled according to the resolution process, which may include a re-attempt, return, or hold pending instructions. Additional charges may apply to failed or returned deliveries.

10. Prohibited & restricted items

ParcelRide is for legal, non-hazardous parcels only. You must not send, among other things:

  • Illegal goods, or items you are not lawfully entitled to send or possess.
  • Hazardous, dangerous, flammable, explosive, or otherwise unsafe materials.
  • Weapons, controlled drugs, or regulated substances.
  • Living animals, perishable goods that cannot be safely transported, or human remains.
  • Cash, or other items prohibited by applicable law or by the platform’s policies.

You must declare the contents and value of each parcel accurately. Misdeclared, prohibited, or unsafe parcels may be refused, held, reported to the relevant authorities, and may result in suspension. The Sender is responsible for any fines, penalties, damage, or loss arising from prohibited or misdeclared contents.

11. Sender responsibilities

  • Declare contents and value truthfully and completely.
  • Package parcels appropriately for transport and handling.
  • Ensure the goods are legal and permitted under these Terms.
  • Provide accurate pickup, drop-off, and Receiver information.
  • Accept the liability declaration presented before dispatch, where required.

12. Driver responsibilities

  • Complete verification and maintain approved status before operating.
  • Handle parcels with reasonable care and follow the platform’s confirmation steps.
  • Record accurate proof of pickup and delivery.
  • Act lawfully, safely, and professionally toward Senders and Receivers.
  • Not open, tamper with, retain, or misuse any parcel or its contents.

13. Liability, declared value & insurance

ParcelRide arranges and coordinates deliveries and provides trust & safety tooling, but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for loss of or damage to a parcel is limited to the declared value of that parcel, up to the platform-defined coverage limit shown during checkout.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for losses arising from inaccurate declarations, inadequate packaging, prohibited contents, or incorrect Receiver details, or for events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Support & disputes

Support is available through the in-app support channel. Where a dispute arises about a delivery, the platform’s event log and recorded proof artifacts (such as photos, timestamps, and status history) form the evidence base used to resolve it. We aim to resolve disputes fairly and transparently.

15. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the platform — including by attempting to bypass platform pricing, taking communication or payment off-platform to evade these Terms, circumventing trust & safety controls, harassing other users, or interfering with the security or integrity of the service.

16. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate access where these Terms are breached, where required by law, or where necessary to protect users or the platform. You may stop using the service at any time, subject to completing any deliveries already in progress and settling amounts due.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes are reflected by a new version number. Because consent to the Terms and Privacy Policy is captured at order creation, an updated version means you will be asked to agree again before placing your next order. The version and effective date of the current document are shown at the top of this page.

18. Governing law & contact

The service operates across Sweden and Denmark; the governing law and competent jurisdiction will be confirmed in the final, counsel-reviewed version (see the review notes below). For questions about these Terms, contact legal@parcelride.eu or use in-app support.
